Playdate at Aunt Victoria's 19/05

Kiera, Yang and Meryl playing together after dinner.
GF invited my kids over for playdate but Kyle chose to stay with his dad and they went dinner together with the granddad whilst Meryl and I made our way there on our own.

The kids did art and craft together, sang and danced and did some gymnastics together.

They had Japanese oyako don for dinner and Meryl insisted on feeding herself in front of her friends. She finished in record time! She enjoyed herself so much playing with Yang and Kiera that when her dad came to pick us up, she stubbornly refused to leave and cried. Yang tried to pacify her by offering her Kiera's toy but it didn't work!

Alex's 5th birthday party 04/06

The 2 babies, Alyssa and Annette are already walking!! Alex's mom called and said that Alex requested for his friends to go over to celebrate his birthday instead of going Downtown East. The kids had not been to Alex's place for a long time and they were thrilled to re-visit his toys. My kids, together with Belle and Joel and Alex literally turned the house upside down! Toys were everywhere and so were the kids!

After a pizza lunch with chicken wings, it was cake cutting time. As usual my son was most excited about it..look at him (below) with his mouth all puffed up!
We left at about 2 in time for the kids' afternoon nap. It was great for them to meet up with their toddler playmates again.

A new Friend from Vietnam

This is Tini, from Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh city. She was here with her parents for 3 days and 2 nights of fun.
We went to Sentosa, Siloso Beach Resort to have dinner with them. It was beautiful and convenient as well. We had dinner before we went to watch 'Songs of the Sea'.

Kyle took to his new friends (she is Meryl's age but same height as Kyle!) and they were sparring with each other like old friends.

Here we are, getting ready for the show and eeping our fingers crossed that it will not pour....See the ominous lightning across the sky??

I had no idea what to expect at all and was feeling grumpy that we have to pay to watch 'Mucial Fountain' which is free. I was plesantly surprised to find that it was some kind of mini 'musical'.
There were actrs, plot, singing and drama as well using lights, fire, water and music. It was quite refreshing, I must say and at the end of the show, felt that it was money well-spent.

The kids had loads of fun watching the show although Tini was a little frightened by the special effects initially.

The night evening, we all went to Night Safari. I also 'chio-ed' my neighbour who came with their 'troops' to the Safari. Raine, Nerise, Shannon, Shanice together with Amy, Byron, their mother cum maid came along.

We all watch the Animal Show at the amphitheatre before proceeding to take the tram for the next 50 mins or so. The kids were so excited to be together and seeing the animals. Needless to say, our tram was one of the noisiest!!!

Family Uniforms- Taiwan and Spain

Finally decided to wear our family 'uniforms'.
This set is bought by the hubby's youngest sister on her trip to Taiwan. It's got
pigs printed all our it so we are n ow the 'pig' family. Hers is the 'doraemon' family and the elder brother's family is the 'snoopy' family.
Ha ha ha....

We went to Singapore Expo to join in the Big Grab for cheap National Library Book Sale. Our 'loot' included 2 books for meself and 17 books for the kiddos. We then had our dinner at a popular handmade noodle restaurant (cannot remember the name now..ha ha) before heading to Tampines Mall 'Toy R Us' where we bought 2 'water squirter' for Kyle and his swim partner and a set of Snow White figurines for Meryl.

The next day was another 'uniform day'. We are all clothed in t-shirts from Spain, a gift from the hubby's eldest sister. I was headed to the Zoo with the 2 kids while the hubby was going fishing.
This way we will not get lost...

Kyle the Navigator

Brought the 2 kids by myself to the zoo as the hubby went fishing. Kyle was given a job on this trip ( we have lost count how many times we've been there!) He was officially our guide and navigator today.
His itinerary for the day : First visit the otters, then the tapirs, then white tigers, pigmy hippos before going to the Australian Outback and then to see the baboons. He planned for KFC lunch at Children's World's before we head back.

This was taken outside the warthog enclosure. This is one of the many picture I took for the 2 of them. Notice how Meryl is leaning against Kyle's shoulder's?? This was a directive by the brother to put her head there for ALL the pictures that they took (only posted one!!) My little girl happily obliged and 2 of them looked so lovely dovey together. Sigh...how I wish they are always so.
We went to the Australian Outback...

They stopped to share an ice-cream together...
Finally lunch at KFC. I managed to bag a table before I went to join the long snake of queue and then realised that it was such a good idea leaving my bag ther (the camera was inside) so I asked Kyle to help me bring the bag from outside. He went and managed to find the things and then lugged the bag, 2 bottles and 2 caps back into the restaurant! I quickly asked him to go back and put the bottles at the table otherwise it will be taken by other people. He went again and came back with a sheepish smile, saying that it was taken up. We had no choice but to buy the food and went in search of a table. Luckily, a family of Burmese allowed us to share their table. The place was PACKED!

AFter the meal, they went into Bubble room to play for a while until the rain stopped. We had ball fight in there! We then went to fragile forest before walking back to the entrance again to take a cab. We spent about 4 hours and Kyle did a fabulous job as the navigator, without us getting lost or taking any long cuts at all. In that time, Meryl walked throughout without a single complaint whereas Kyle kept saying that his legs were tired at the end. I always knew that women has a higher tolerance level! Ha!

Kyle's 5th Birthday at Ascension 080508

8th May 2008. Kyle celebrated yet another year of birth in school but with another girl from a different class this time. Meryl went up the stage as per last year but this time, but this time she was treated with hostility from his brother who pushed her away when she tried to stand next to him. Apparently he had told our helper the night before that he did not want his sister to be on stage with him but I was not aware and had asked Meryl up to be on the stage with her brother to lend him some support. He got a stern warning from us for treating his sister thus. But on hindsight, we realised that he wanted all the attention and did not want his sister to steal any limelight. The whole family turned up to celebrate with his friends and teachers. Kyle was especially delighted to see his father and seemed to bask in his attention. He was extremely showy and shy at the same time. A girl, Elizabeth quietly gave him a Ben 10 pouch after which we teased him mercilessly about . He told us that Elizabeth does not like Ben 10 but had asked her father to buy it especially for him.

The photo taking took place first and then they sang him a birthday song. (the girl on his right is Elizabeth) He was asked about his birthday resolutions which included showering himself, wiping his own backside, cleaning his own dishes etc.

After the cake cutting and eating ( together with some konyaku jelly made by Jo), he distributed his party gifts which included Mickey Mouse colour pencils, a pack of Jack and Jill chips and some Wang Wang biscuits. We had to rushed through this as I had specially taken this day off to celebrate his birthday and to bring him for a movie, Ironman.

That's Kyle giving out his party gifts. This is the classroom with dramatic play corner (on the loft is the living room with racks of clothes for dress-up games), below is a miniature kitchenette, on the other side is the art and craft and reading centre.

This was one of the artwork done by Kyle that I saw in the room.

Both kids sat through the show amidst popcorns and chips ( a treat for them) and Meryl only fell asleep on the way back home!

Raine's Swimming Tub

Our neighbour bought a new swim tub for the kids and has been inviting us up since a week ago. Finally one Sunday, after coming back from lunch, we decided to take up her invitation and went straight up. The kids stripped down to their underwear and jumped right in. About 15 mins later, Shannon and Shanice came back from their classes and also joined in.
They had much fun for more than half an hour before they were willing to go home. The following week, the kids went up again to play...looks like this is set to be a regular affair.

The Cake for the birthday boy who will turn 6 on 11th July 2008.
All the cousins are here celebrating together for their Big Bro.
Jay can't wait to see his Ben Ten T shirt which Yang had been telling him about the moment he stepped intot he house!

Oops...and the cake is forgotten...
Luckily the dad came to the rescue!!!

The picture was taken during dinner time and all of them had their eyes glued to the TV.

My girl posing in her new suit bought by her xaio gu from Taiwan... ain't it sexy??
